Our Artefact Registry workshop and our Young Archaeologist workshop run twice a day Monday to Friday.

ARTEFACT REGISTRY WORKSHOP

Our Artefact Registry workshop focuses on ceramic vessels primarily from the Inca, Moche, Chimú, & Chancay cultures.

Monday – Friday

Assist our licensed archaeology professionals catalogue Inca & pre-Inca ceramic artefacts. This project is run in coordination with the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.

WORKSHOP INCLUDES:-

  • Short presentation on pre-Columbian cultures

(Moche, Chimú, Chancay, & Inca)

  • Cleaning and registry of ceramic artefacts
  • Exhibition of rare items
  • Certificate of completion

This hands-on activity is carried out in the presence of qualified archaeologists.

Familiarize yourself with Peru’s pre-Columbian cultures with our practical activities supervised by licensed professionals at our locale in Cusco.

You will measure, and photograph genuine artefacts and help us register ceramic vessels in Peru’s national artefact index.

Maximum 10 adults per workshop.

NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED and all materials are provided.

The meeting point is at the Óvalo Pachacutec (map), 10 minutes before the workshop starts. This is a short taxi ride from the centre of Cusco.

Weeks 3 and 4 follow a similar structure but with varied activities on the Wednesday site visits.

YOUNG ARCHAEOLOGIST WORKSHOP (7 to 12 years)

The Young Archaeologist workshop is available to persons between 7 and 12 years old who are accompanied by an adult attending the Artefact Registry workshop.

The Young Archaeologist workshop is conducted in the same salon and at the same time as the Artefact Registry workshop.

WORKSHOP INCLUDES:-

  • Identifying ceramic fragments
  • Classifying pottery
  • Photographing and drawing artefacts
  • Exhibition of rare items
  • Certificate of completion

All workshops are carried out in the presence of qualified archaeologists. Maximum of 4 persons between the ages of 7 and 12 per workshop.
